MG primes another wave of electrified offerings for PIMS 2026

MG Philippines has published a new teaser on its official Facebook page, hinting at its lineup for the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show on June 4 to 7. The three vehicles are partially obscured by shadows, but we have a good idea of what these models are.

Based on the Department of Energy’s registry of recognized electric vehicles, these models should be the MG RX9, the MG 4 Urban, and the MG HS PHEV. Let’s look into what we know about each of these vehicles.

MG S9 2026

Front and center is the MG RX9 (or S9, as it’s known in other markets), a seven-seater plug-in hybrid equipped with premium features. We’re talking about stuff like heated and ventilated front seats, captain seats for the second row, and lots of leather all around. It’s the brand’s first three-row SUV, and can do around 100km of fully electric driving.

The available spec sheet for the MG RX9 indicates a 24.7kWh LFP battery hooked up to a single motor in tandem with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. Combined power output is a hearty 324hp. It also measures in at 4,983mm long, 1,967mm wide, and 1,768mm tall. It’s a clear rival to the BYD Tang, which launched last year.

MG MG 4 2026

The silhouette on the left matches that of the MG 4 Urban, especially with the distinct headlight design. As we shared in our previous report, this new possible budget variant offers less power and range than any of the current MG 4 trims: just 161hp and 250Nm of torque, with 325km of driving range.

With a single trim indicated on the spec sheet, it’s unclear if this will sit alongside the current MG 4 lineup or replace it as a new generation. Either way, we do know that the MG 4 Urban trades in the aggressive looks for a more understated profile. The headlights do look similar to the MG Cyberster, at least.

2025 MG HS PHEV

Last but not least is the MG HS PHEV. While our review of the currently available Hybrid+ billed it as a worthy competitor to the BYD Sealion 6, adding plug-in technology puts it on even ground with the popular compact crossover. The HS PHEV was actually previewed in PIMS 2024—could its possible appearance this year come with an official launch announcement this time?

The attached spec sheet under the MG HS PHEV’s listing lists a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine good for 141hp and 230Nm of torque, mated to an electric motor making 181hp and 340Nm—slightly power figures from two years ago. EV-only range also sits at 100km, 20km less than its first appearance. It does keep the same physical dimensions of the hybrid HS, however.

Will any of these new MGs become another crowd favorite like the G50 PHEV? We won’t have to wait too long to answer that; the Philippine International Motor Show opens next week. In the meantime, let us know which of these models piques your interest the most.
