The EV charging network in Metro Manila has grown exponentially in recent years. It’s come in handy, considering how more and more car buyers shifting to electric vehicles.
Outside the metro, however, living with an electric vehicle isn’t always as convenient because public chargers aren’t as readily available. Charging at home should always be the first option, but of course, knowing you can access a public station in a pinch gives you that extra sense of security.

For someone like me who lives in Laguna, these were things I had to keep in mind when I was lent the Kia EV5. During my time with this EV, my schedule included a few drives between Santa Rosa and Metro Manila and a weekend in Los Baños. In areas further south like this, charging stations are foreign concepts.

The unit I got was the top-of-the-line Kia EV5 GLS which retails for P2,698,000. It comes with a maximum range of about 550km, which is plenty on paper. In reality, it proved to be a lot, too, because it was more than enough for my busy itinerary.
