The Tesla Roadster is almost upon us…again.
Tesla previously scheduled the big reveal for October 2nd, but decided to postpone the event due to bad weather. The global debut of the Tesla Roadster will officially be on October 15, 7:55pm CST. You can consider the photo you see above stale, because as of this writing, the countdown has already reset and there’s still about 18 hours left on the clock.

That puts the unveiling of the new Tesla right around October 16 at 9am in the Philippines. Tesla’s electric roadster has been years in the making, and if you’re one of those who’ve been waiting on this, it’s best to get those alarms ready.

Now, some of us were wondering how a launch for a roadster could be hampered by bad weather. Was it that important for the event to be held outdoors? Apparently, yes. The official reason is unknown, but MotorTrend notes the possibility of the Tesla Roadster having the ability to fly.
In a recent article, the American publication noted how the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the SpaceX test facility in McGregor, Texas. In the case of Tesla, securing this flight corridor away from traffic would only be necessary if it were testing an aircraft. According to the FAA, any vehicle hovering two inches or 2,000ft off the ground is considered an aircraft, so that also includes electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles or eVTOLs. In other words, a flying car.
MotorTrend did note that it would be more likely for the Tesla to “hover and hop around than fly like a Harrier jump jet,” and we completely agree. In any case, more will be revealed tomorrow. Let’s all keep our eyes peeled.
