The droptop version of the 1,000hp Denza Z electric supercar is here

Been warming up to the Denza Z supercar? Surprise—aside from the coupe form, it now has a droptop convertible version, too!

Here it is, fresh from its local market unveiling at Auto China 2026 in Beijing. We’ll get more pics and details soon, but for now, we know that its output will be around 1,000hp (perhaps the 952bhp tri-motor setup from the Z9 GT), that it’s claiming 0-100kph in less than 2sec, and that the retractable roof here is a fabric soft top.

Actually, we also know the Z will get an ‘intelligent magnetorheological body-control system’ that’s essentially fancy active suspension, and that it’ll get BYD’s 1,500kW ‘Flash Charging.’ Side note: those bonkers quick chargers are also coming to the UK. Hurrah!

And of course, the styling has been penned by former Alfa Romeo and Audi design boss Wolfgang Egger. Looks pretty sleek.

Denza’s BYD overlords say the Z has already commenced “testing and lap-record runs at the legendary Nürburgring,” and that a public competition is underway to provide a name for each of the three variants that will eventually reach production. Those variants are the standard coupe, this convertible, and a track-focused Z. Tracky McTrackface is right there, people.

Nürburgring lap-record runs. Track-focused Z. Things are about to get serious, so watch this space.
