The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has secured right-of-way for the Las Piñas Station of the Light Rail Transit Line 1. This was recently finalized through a memorandum of agreement signed by the LRTA and the Villar Group.
The latter agreed to donate right-of-way and, with that, 4,465sqm of land for the upcoming station. The Department of Transportation and the LRTA have yet to announce when construction will begin, but we can expect it to happen soon.
This comes as the latest development in the LRT Line 1 South Cavite Extension Project, which will see new stations in Zapote and Niog in Bacoor, Cavite. Once the segment is complete, travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor should take just 25 minutes, according to the DOTr.

The extension alone is also expected to accommodate around 300,000 commuters a day, as the overall line spans from Fernando Poe Jr. Station in North EDSA, Quezon City.
“This donation will allow the government to save a significant amount of public funds,” said Atty. Hernando Cabrera, LRTA administrator. “More importantly, it will help us move the project forward and complete it much sooner.”
