Li Auto opened the doors to its Aseana showroom yesterday, and taking the place of honor was its flagship family mover—the Li Auto Mega. The Chinese automaker calls the Mega its “most complete expression of mobile luxury.” Measuring in at 5,350mm long, 1,965mm wide, and 1,850mm tall, it lives up to its name through sheer physical presence.

The Li Auto Mega comes in two variants, with the Ultra trim priced at P5,990,000 and tops out with the Home trim at P6,490,000. This is also Li Auto’s first battery electric vehicle, with the other premium SUVs in its lineup being range-extended EVs.

The Mega was designed to chauffer around families in a luxury cabin with plenty of space, seating seven passengers comfortably. All seats and many of the high-contact surfaces are wrapped in Nappa leather, and rear passengers get seats with zero gravity modes.

Other special amenities include massage functions, a built-in refrigerator and warmer, and a drop-down screen to provide entertainment for the passengers.

Powering the Mega is a 102.7kWh battery with a CLTC range of 710km, more than enough for a handful of road trips. The motor also makes 536hp and 542Nm of torque, making it plenty powerful to haul its large frame around. Li Auto also claims 0-100 time of 5.5sec, impressive not just for its size, but for any kind of vehicle.

The generous power overhead serves to power all the functions and amenities in the cabin, as well as giving it vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities for powering external devices and appliances you might be bringing along on the trip.

At its price point, it easily outsizes any other offerings, even dwarfing the decorated Kia EV9. The top ‘Home’ trim also manages to undercut the Lexus LM350h by more than half a million pesos. Is that price right for the Filipino market, or is it still going to be an uphill battle against the better-known brands? Let us know what you think.
