The 2026 Manila Marathon is scheduled for June 12 and will loop Seaside Boulevard in Pasay City and SM North EDSA in Quezon City. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority estimates that around 6,000 people will join the race, while other reports claim that over 25,000 runners will participate.
Most of the 42km race will be run along EDSA, particularly on the northbound and southbound busway lanes from the SM Mall of Asia Globe to the U-Turn slot at SM North EDSA. A buffer line will also be placed by the busway to create more space between the runners and oncoming traffic.
While the marathon will take place on Independence Day, traffic is still expected, and the MMDA has recommended several alternative routes for motorists passing through EDSA. You can check them out below, along with the full route of the Manila Marathon.
Runners will begin at Seaside Boulevard and then turn left onto J.W. Diokno Boulevard
From there, they will be led towards a U-turn, after which they will turn right, back to Seaside Boulevard
Runners will then take a left turn onto Marina Way and then another left to J.W. Diokno Boulevard
That will lead them to the SM Mall of Asia Globe, and then a right turn towards the northboundEDSA Busway lane
Runners will head towards SM North EDSA, and will eventually take the U-turn slot to the southbound busway lane
At the SM Mall of Asia Globe, runners will turn left towards J.W. Diokno Boulevard
From there, they will turn right at Marina Way
That will lead to another right turn at Seaside Boulevard, which will lead to the finish line
Throughout the marathon, the EDSA Carousel will remain operational on the lanes adjacent to the sidewalks. These outermost lanes will serve as the temporary busway throughout the Independence Day holiday.
As the marathon goes on, flyovers and tunnels with runners nearby will be temporarily closed. The MMDA has ensured that these will be reopened once all participants have cleared the particular segment. The following alternate routes have been recommended, and motorists can also take the listed perpendicular roads and Mabuhay Lanes.
