As of May 7, 2026, BYD Cars Philippines has quietly raised the price of one of its most popular models in their lineup: the Sealion 6 DM-i. The Chinese automaker’s website now lists the Sealion 6 DM-i’s price at P1,598,000. This is a P50,000 price hike over its launch price from 2024, which has remained in place until last week.
As of writing, BYD has offered no comment on their price increases for their plug-in hybrid crossover, as well as for the Shark 6 pickup truck.

Since its introduction in the Philippine market, the Sealion 6 quickly became a popular option in its segment thanks to a comprehensive tech package and highly competitive pricing. Now, with the fuel crisis driving up interest for electrified vehicles, demand has surged—in some cases, to the point of inventory depletion. Some prospective customers have reported needing to be put on a waitlist as BYD dealerships replenish their stock of the Sealion 6.

Without a formal statement from BYD, it can be speculated that high demand has led to a corresponding price increase. An update or successor for the current Sealion 6 launched in 2024 hasn’t been sighted either, so buyers will have to account for the price bump if they’re fully committed to becoming owners of the compact crossover.

The Chinese brand has historically predicated itself on aggressive pricing and electrification technology, but the influx of other PHEV crossover rivals may have BYD rethinking their pricing strategy.
