It’s official, folks: Honda’s next-generation hybrid system will debut in 2027, and it will be used by up to 15 models until 2030. The Japanese carmaker also announced that its new hybrid technology will go by ‘Honda Hybrid.’
You might be asking: “What was wrong with e:HEV?” Well, nothing, but Honda has significantly improved its hybrid platform—apparently enough to give it a new moniker. Honda has redesigned this new system to be 30% more cost-efficient to produce and 10% more fuel-efficient to drive.

For performance, the overall platform has been retooled to ‘optimize’ rigidity, while a new Motion Management System and a retooled electric all-wheel-drive system have also been added. Honda shares it has shrunk the overall drive unit for better fuel economy.
