There’s now a free tool to track fuel prices around Metro Manila

Amid rising pump prices, most of us are forced to play a guessing game about which gas station in our area has the lowest rates. Motorist and web developer Alexander Miguel Sy has decided to take matters into his own hands. His solution? MetroFuel Tracker, a free-to-use website where drivers can find the cheapest unleaded or diesel in their area.

The MetroFuel Tracker website compares the prices of fuel at different stations in Metro Manila. To use MetroFuel Tracker, go to the website (metrofueltracker.com), enter your city and your preferred fuel, then compare the prices of fuel stations around you. You can filter your search to show specific gas station brands if you’re particular about one provider.

If you’re looking for a specific gas station and don’t see the prices (or if the prices are outdated), you can go to that specific station and update the prices on the website yourself. The website doesn’t allow you to change a gas station’s prices unless you’re at that specific location. Updating the prices is a community responsibility, so it’s good to double-check the fuel price board before confirming the price you enter on the website.

Additional features include a shortcut to Waze or Google Maps to set a trip to the gas station you select, and ‘thumbs up’ and ‘thumbs down’ buttons to moderate fuel price accuracy.

“I built this to help out TNVS riders and daily commuters, not to make a quick buck,” said Miguel in his email to us. “I’d also love to hear your feedback on what features you think Filipino drivers would want next.”

If you’re constantly on the go, it might be useful to bookmark MetroFuel Tracker for live price checks when you need to fill up. In the meantime, you can try the website for yourself and see if the gas prices in your area need an update. What other features do you think can help Filipino drivers? Let us, and the developer, know in the comments.
