The third eight-car trainset for the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) has arrived in the Philippines and is currently undergoing its importation process through the Bureau of Customs. The new trainset was purchased from the Japan Transport Engineering Company and Sumimoto Corporation and is scheduled to be brought to the Malanday Depot in Valenzuela City.

According to the Department of Transportation on its official Facebook page, the NSCR route from Valenzuela to Malolos, Bulacan should be partially operational by late 2027. The department also says President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the project’s acceleration to make the NSCR line from Valenzuela to Clark, Pampanga, accessible to commuters before the end of his term in 2028

Upon completion, the 147km NSCR system will have 35 stations connecting Central Luzon, NCR, and CALABARZON, and is expected to serve approximately 800,000 commuters per day. The DOTr says the project will reduce travel time between Clark, Pampanga and Calamba, Laguna from four hours to only two hours.
