The Mazda Fan Festa returned to Clark International Speedway last Saturday, July 18, for its second leg to celebrate the brand’s motorsport heritage. With plenty of experiences both on and off the track, it was a full day of motoring fun for Mazda owners and enthusiasts.
The weekend also coincided with the soft launch of the Mazda Paddock at Clark International Speedway (CIS). The on-track facility will serve as a hub for engagement with the Mazda community, including future media and motorsport events. Like other paddocks at CIS, the ground floor is for race cars, the second floor is a meeting area and pantry, and the third floor is a multipurpose viewing deck.
Even in its almost-finished state, it was easy to see the potential of the Mazda Paddock to bring together different members of the Mazda community. Racing has always been in Mazda’s spirit, and now that spirit has a home in Clark.
On the track, the MSCC Miata Spec Series and MCP Miata Cup races carried Mazda’s motorsport legacy forward. Even with the added challenge of a wet track thanks to sudden rain showers, the racers pushed themselves and their Miatas to the limit in the name of friendly competition. All in all, the exhibition of racecraft and sportsmanship made for a great show for everyone in attendance.
The sim racing setups from the first leg of the Mazda Fan Festa also made an appearance at Clark, challenging members of the media to set their best virtual lap times. By bringing back these simulators, Mazda shows that the excitement and competitive spirit of motorsport isn’t limited to physically racing on track.
The track experience and Sunset Parade also let several Mazda owners drive on the track with their cars. Regardless of what they lined up on the grid in—be it a sporty Mazda 3 or a dependable CX-5—the experience offered drivers a safe environment to relish the joy of driving alongside fellow owners. It was a sight to see big and small Mazdas of different generations on one track.
All of these events highlighted a community built around the passion for motoring. The brand believes that more than great cars and motorsport prestige, Mazda Fan Festa is about the people first. And with the Mazda Paddock gearing up for full-time operation, it will be exciting to see where the community goes next for the love of driving.
