On July 20, the Pasig City local government formally turned over 10 new Toyota Zenix HEVs to six different city offices. The city’s public information office shares that these new hybrid MPVs are the second batch of units acquired for the city’s re-fleeting program.
The vehicles were purchased through the eMarketplace system of the Procurement Service-Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM). Pasig City previously used the same system in February to procure three Toyota vehicles: a Zenix, a GL Grandia, and a Tamaraw Utility Van.
The Pasig City Public Information Office shares that the choice to procure hybrid vehicles is part of the city’s sustainable governance goals, which include using more eco-friendly technology where possible. Earlier in March, the local government also rolled out electric minibuses to reinforce its public transport system. Mayor Vico Sotto described the arrival of these EVs as very timely acquisitions, given the onset of the oil crisis that month.

PS-DBM officials were present at the turnover and blessing ceremony of the new Zenix HEV units, who thanked the Pasig City government for its continued support of the eMarketplace system. Although no official figures were made available for the cost of the 10 hybrid MPVs, the Procurement Service shared that Pasig’s February acquisitions were around P145,000 cheaper than their usual market prices.
Pasig’s re-fleeting program to upgrade its service vehicles is currently ongoing and will run through 2029.
