BMW Motorrad has unveiled its newest concept bike, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen from the German brand before. This is the Vision K18, and it’s…quite interesting.
The motorcycle manufacturer says the Vision K18 stands for “uncompromising passion, confident long-distance performance and outstanding visual presence.” BMW Motorrad is also reimagining long-distance travel “as sensual experience” where “emotion is central, performance is the key—and is staged with all the senses.” See? Interesting.

Now, it’s not like BMW hasn’t designed something like this before. We’ve seen it build futuristic bikes, some of which are even in the market right now such as the CE 02 and CE 04. What makes the Vision K 18 a little different is that it comes powere by a 1,800cc in-line-six.

A 1.8-liter straight-six is something we haven’t seen BMW use in markets like ours where the K models aren’t available. Speaking of which, we assume BMW’s K lineup is where the Vision K 18 is derived from, not just because of the name but because of the bike’s silhouette.
The BMW Motorrad Vision K 18, however, is built with aluminum and forged-carbon materials. It features a bright, metallic look that pays homage to classic Formula 1 exhaust headers. Frankly, it looks like a spaceship and seems a little too smooth to be a production bike, but we could be wrong. At the very least, this could indicate where BMW Motorrad’s design language is headed.

“With the BMW Motorrad Vision K18, we show how we interpret performance, luxury and emotion in a new, very confident way. For us, the inline six-cylinder is far more than an engine—it is a statement,” said BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch. “The Vision K18 translates this power into a sculptural form that makes dynamism and speed tangible even at a standstill. This bike stands for our passion to redefine the boundaries of design and performance repeatedly.”
Do you think BMW Motorrad should bring this into production? We didn’t think the CE 04 would hit the market that quickly back then, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the Germans go ahead and decide to build this anyway.
