Someone just committed a ‘gas and run’ in QC, and now the LTO’s out to get him

Fuel prices are still at an all-time high, and we understand that these are hard times. Unfortunately, it’s times like these that bring out the worst in some people.

Take this recent incident, for example. A motorist driving a Toyota Vios stopped by a Unioil station to gas up, but then proceeded to drive away without paying for the top-up. It’s something authorities are now calling a ‘gas-and-run.’ It’s both sad and frustrating at the same time.

This happened on May 3 at around 3am at the Unioil station on Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City. In response, the Land Transportation Office has issued a show cause order against the registered owner of the vehicle and the driver operating the car during the incident. The LTO has also put the vehicle in question under alarm, and the license of the driver involved under a 90-day suspension.

If you can still afford to drive a car in times like these, then surely, you should be able to pay for the gas, right? But if you can’t afford the latter, then maybe you shouldn’t be driving at all. Live within your means, and try not to inconvenience (or worse, harm) other people in the process.
