BYD has some interesting things lined up for the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The brand has released a teaser of the new BYD Atto 3 just before its event debut, and based on reports, expect significant upgrades over the current-generation model.

The new Atto 3 (known as the ‘Yuan Plus’ for the Chinese domestic market) ditches its front-wheel-drive platform for a rear-wheel-drive configuration. It also gets two larger battery options compared to the current model—a choice between a 57.54kWh or a 68.54kWh battery pack.

The smaller 57.54kWh battery is paired with a rear-mounted electric motor making 268hp with 540km of range. The 68.54kWh battery, on the other hand, powers an electric motor delivering 322hp and 630km of range.

A cool feature of the new battery pack is that it supports BYD’s flash charging technology, which can recharge the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes, and 10% to 97% in only nine minutes. That’s a significant time difference from the 30- to 40-minute charging times we’re used to seeing.

As for dimensions, the new Atto 3 is larger than the current generation. Notably, it measures 4,665mm in length compared to the current model’s 4,455mm—that’s a difference of around eight inches. It also comes in slightly wider at 1,895mm and taller at 1,675mm.

The new BYD Atto 3 will be unveiled at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show this week. Very soon, we should be able to give you a closer and more detailed look at this crossover SUV in the metal.
