Recall alert: 123 Hyundai Palisade units in PH affected by power-folding seat issue

Hyundai Motor Philippines has announced a recall for the Hyundai Palisade due to an issue with the power-folding function of its second- and third-row seats. A total of 123 units of the hybrid SUV are affected in the local market.

The Korean carmaker issues a global recall following multiple incidents in which the power-folding system failed to detect occupants in the second or third rows, and continued to fold down after the remote button in the trunk was pressed. One such incident resulted in the death of a two-year-old in the United States.

According to the advisory from the Department of Trade and Industry, Hyundai’s service action program “involves a software update that introduces improvements, including the removal of feature activation through the AVN unit and the requirement for a long-press and hold action on the second and third row seat buttons to enable folding and unfolding functions.”

Local Palisade owners are advised to check their units using Hyundai’s VIN finder and coordinate as soon as possible with an authorized Hyundai dealership so that the software update can be installed in their units.
